Bostick & Sullivan is producing the first machine coated albumen paper in nearly a century. Albumen is one of the truly great historic processes. It is a POP process so one can examine the exposure but more than that, POP gives gorgeous tones. Albumen achieves a special look that is not obtained with other media like gelatin due to the fact that the image lies on the very top surface of the albumen. Albumen prints have lasted more than 150 years in pristine condition. Today we know much more about permanence issue and have applied that to the manufacture and the processing of the print.
